From Rescue Dog to Internet Legend

Long before the whole internet knew her face, Kabosu was a Shiba Inu in Japan waiting for someone to notice her. Her story begins not with a meme, but with volunteers who refused to give up on a dog nobody was coming for. Today, the $KABOSU token channels her legacy directly back to those same volunteers.

Her second chance, step by step

  1. Before

    A breeding facility closes

Kabosu, a female Shiba Inu, was left without a home when the facility she came from shut down.

  2. Rescue

    Chibawan steps in

The volunteer-run rescue organization Chibawan saved her, cared for her, and placed her up for adoption.

  3. 2008

    A teacher says yes

Kindergarten teacher Atsuko Sato adopted Kabosu and later began sharing photos of her online.

  4. After

    One photograph

Paws crossed, a curious sideways glance — the image became DOGE, one of the most recognizable memes in internet history.

The photograph that circled the world

That single picture became DOGE. Its playful broken-English captions — usually set in Comic Sans — spread across every corner of the internet, and went on to inspire Dogecoin and an entire generation of online culture.

Kabosu never knew any of it. She was simply a dog who had been given a home.

Note: Chibawan is an independent animal-rescue organization. It did not create, own, or officially endorse Dogecoin or the DOGE meme.

Who Chibawan is

Chibawan is a Japanese volunteer-run animal-rescue organization dedicated to saving abandoned dogs and cats, caring for them, and connecting them with loving adoptive families. Its mission is a Japan with zero unnecessary animal euthanasia.

$KABOSU

Every fee helps the shelter that saved her

The $KABOSU token was created to turn Kabosu’s legacy into direct support for Chibawan. 100% of project fees are routed to the animal shelter, funding food, medical care, and rescue operations for dogs and cats still waiting for help.

It is the only active project built specifically to channel Kabosu’s global recognition back to the volunteers who rescued her.

“The world knows her as DOGE. Chibawan knew her first as a life worth saving.”

Without the volunteers who showed up for one unremarkable rescue dog, the world may never have known DOGE. There are still animals waiting for that same chance today.
